Tucson Update: Public Forum this Wednesday

This is a Call to Action for Tucson Unified School District (TUSD). We have been writing about pending sex ed changes in the largest district in Pima County. Originally the TUSD Governing Board was going to vote on the new curriculum at their board meeting on June 25th. However, the board feels they will need the entire evening on Tuesday to go over the budget (and the Governing Board has not had two calls to the public as required, but don’t tell anyone that.)

Therefore, the Governing Board has decided to have an open forum for the community to comment on the proposed sex ed. It is appreciated the district is offering this opportunity. It would help, though, if they would post the pending curriculum (as required by Arizona law) so the public knows what to comment on.

Here is the information about the meeting:

Wednesday, June 26, 2019

6:30PM – 8PM

TUSD District Office, Morrow Education Center

1010 E. 10th St. Tucson, AZ 85719

520-225-6000

If you would like to give feedback to the community regarding the curriculum you will have three minutes to speak. Even if you do not want to speak, your presence is powerful and much appreciated. Some are wearing white to stand in union for purity. These are innocent children and we are responsible for them.

Even if you don’t live in Tucson Unified School District’s boundaries, feel free to attend and speak. TUSD is using information and contacts in one of Arizona’s favorite Planned Parenthood districts as they address sex ed–Phoenix Union High Schools. If Phoenix Union is welcome in Tucson, so are you!

I feel if the kids are going to go back to school they need a full face shield with rubber foam around the top of their head that way they can still eat in the classrooms and participate without spreading germs
