How to Buck the System and Teach Social Emotional Learning in Arizona

It is the same story again and again. Laws and guidelines are established at federal, state, and local levels for the purpose of protecting children and keeping the parent-child relationship whole, and then a small group concocts ways to circumvent the system.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is another one of the hot titles that serves as an umbrella for anything non-academic. The subject matter often includes Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), Critical Race Theory, Restorative Justice, gender is not related to chromosomes, unborn babies are a clump of cells, sex is fine with no guardrails, and your parents shouldn’t be trusted. All of this takes place in the classroom as these theories are woven into all subject matter.

For a great overview of SEL, check out any one of the videos produced by Parents on the Level.

Parents on the Level not only explains in detail what these agendas entail, but they bring receipts. Keep in mind the atrocious scores in many Arizona school districts, reflecting union schools’ focus on anything but academics.

On Monday October 27, 2025 at the Arizona State Board of Education meeting, removal of DEI “language” from educational materials will be discussed.

While Superintendent Tom Horne is attempting to follow federal directives, which should in the long term increase academic proficiency, a group of adults is devising alternative measures to continue teaching Social Emotional Learning, which is directly related to DEI. Here are some screenshots of a recent online discussion about the subject.

Notice the word “trick”. Don’t we teach kids not to trick others, except maybe in a game or October 31st candy situation? Many already know PE is where some of the SEL and DEI is being taught. Bloom365 (see below) often uses PE classes as a gateway to teach agendas. The “tricks” will continue as Big Education manipulates language so it is more gentle for the public.

Here are a few more screenshots.

As usual, once the public understands exactly what these agendas include and begins to push back, the names are changed. Now we have the current playbook, but that will evolve down the road so be ready. Removing DEI language on October 27th won’t begin to stop the bleeding. On another note, there is no such thing as “digital safety”, especially when children are involved. Be on guard for the words SEL and digital in the same paragraph. Putting children on a device for a feel-good agenda gives the producers of the program the opportunity to monitor and gather all kinds of data on your kids.

This video explains how deep the agenda is in everyday life in the classroom.

The bottom line is don’t expect anyone in the White House, the governor, or the Superintendent of Public Instruction to keep inappropriate material from your minor children while they are at school. This can only be stopped by parents. It is imperative parents ask to see EVERY book, magazine, professional development material, curriculum, video, and pamphlet that is available to their children. Yes, that is an overwhleming task. Yes, that takes a lot of time. These are children, though, they are owed that much. Be aware of all the name changes and fluffy words Big Education is using to influence your children. Big Ed doesn’t mind the long game, neither should parents. Parents whose children attend private, charter, or parochial schools should be just as diligent.

The Arizona State Board of Education has quite a task in front of it if it truly wants to eliminate DEI. Monday’s meeting will be interesting, as will the reaction of many of those in education who would rather focus on feelings than scholars.
